As Waltonwood Ashburn gears up to open the doors to its first residents and with one of the most popular family holidays – Halloween – approaching fast, the community decided to host a free Halloween Extravaganza on October 27 at 6 p.m. This will be the very first event hosted at the new, upscale senior living community (44141 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn) and it will be a family friendly celebration for guests of all ages. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy the movie “Hotel Transylvania,” snack on some popcorn and try a smoked pig prepared by the culinary services director John Harder and his team. The senior living community encourages everyone to wear their favorite Halloween costume to be eligible to win a prize for the most original. In addition, candy will be handed out to all children in costumes. Because this is a family friendly event, the team hopes that parents and grandparents will bring their children, as this is a great example of the kind of intergenerational events and activities the senior living community plans to host more of in the future. Waltonwood Ashburn realizes that interaction between generations has many benefits for seniors, including improving their physical health and an increasing their overall sense of well-being. This is also a perfect example of the many ways Waltonwood Ashburn will be involved in the local community. The public is asked to RSVP by calling (571) 918-4854.
