March is National Nutrition Month, and to showcase its fresh, fun new spring menu, Waltonwood at Ashburn be hosting its first Taste of Waltonwood event on Wednesday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the senior living community (44141 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn). In addition to fun interactive cooking demonstrations and various cooking stations featuring seasonal spring fare, the residents and guests will have the opportunity to plant an indoor vegetable and herb garden and take it home with them. “We recently began working with local farms and produce vendors to ensure we provide residents with local, sustainably sourced and fresh ingredients,“ said Beth Siatta, director of culinary services at Waltonwood at Ashburn. ”Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for our residents and their guests because hospitality is top of mind at our community. We are excited to share some of our delicious food during the Taste of Waltonwood event with the local community.”
The tasting stations will feature chilled strawberry champagne soup; grilled peach with burrata cheese, country ham and arugula; cocoa butter duck confit, polenta cake and jerk sauce; lobster, mango, avocado and cashew spring rolls with soy siracha dipping sauce; mini crab towers with avocado mango salsa and more. The pastry chef-attended station will showcase savory crepes with different filling options. What makes the dining experience at Waltonwood Ashburn unique is the tableside cooking demonstrations and weekly live-action stations for residents to enjoy.
