Waltonwood Ashburn is celebrating its first anniversary this month, and the community is inviting everyone to share in the festivities. In honor of the occasion, the senior living community (44141 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn) is hosting a free open house event on April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During this special event, the public is invited to stop by for a tour and enjoy chef-prepared appetizers and refreshments as well as meet many of the wonderful individuals, businesses and organizations who have positively impacted the lives of the residents and local community. One of the first residents to move in to Waltonwood Ashburn last year was Harriet Retterer. Her daughter and son helped her search for the right senior living community, and today, Retterer is grateful they chose Waltonwood to be her new home.
“From the moment we first came to see the community, I knew this place was special,” said Retterer. “I love the people here because they are all very friendly. The staff helps me with absolutely everything, even something so simple as hanging up a picture. I also enjoy the number of activities they offer because it keeps me busy. I have always been a gardener, so when I found out there is a gardening room I can visit and plant flowers I was thrilled. Waltonwood is a lovely community, and I look forward to celebrating the first anniversary.”
Retterer, among other residents, can choose from a number of activities prepared monthly by the activity director and enjoy gourmet meals prepared with the highest quality ingredients and care. Waltonwood Ashburn prides itself on delivering dynamic offerings designed to meet the variety of preferences, interests and needs of the residents who live there. This tailored approach ensures that the unique needs of each resident are met, giving them a sense of purpose, dignity and fulfillment.
Over the past year, the senior living community hosted various educational events, facilitated philanthropic projects (including a food-pantry drive and a bingo fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association) and delivered homemade meals to local firefighters to show their appreciation. Waltonwood Ashburn has partnered with multiple organizations and local schools to create opportunities for volunteer work, intergenerational events and activities – always looking for ways to give back to the community.
“We can’t believe it has already been a year since we first opened our doors,” said Justin Roberts, executive director of Waltonwood at Ashburn. “This anniversary means a lot to all of us, and we are so thankful for the support that the community of Ashburn and the surrounding areas have shown us. It has been an honor to work here and be part of a team that offers such a high standard of care for its residents. I look forward to continuing to develop relationships with seniors and families. We are thankful for everyone who helped us make this happen, and we look forward to many wonderful years to come.”
